Do you just use old books that are relatively cheap?

I very rarely buy a book to make a sculpture. Most are given to me, either by people cleaning out their attics or the person who commissioned the piece. If I absolutely must by I check second hand shops and yard sales and my last resort is Ebay.

I have no clue how you can bring yourself to cut up books, but this artwork is amazing, so, just this once, I'm okay with it. :) But only because you use the torn books to tell a story. :D You really do have incredible talent.

That's exactly what I try to do. I'm a book lover, and if I didn't feel like I could portray the story, I wouldn't touch them. There are a few books that I'm dying to do but I don't feel like I'm capable of doing them justice yet.

Ah. Have you ever contemplated doing a Redwall piece? They're book that were written by a British author named Brian Jacques. He died in February 2011, but he was always my favorite author.

I haven't heard of him, but I'll definitely look into him.
