Music and books come to life with this book sculpture. Made from "The Lives of the Great Composers" by Schonberg, our piano man sits to play his masterpiece. Could he be the next Beethoven? With powdered wig style hair and wearing a coat with tails, the composer cuts a dashing figure. Behind him are the portraits of other composers taken from the book. they include Schumann and his wife, Clara, Paganini, and Weber. They will also be included.
You always come out with some of the most amzing things. The hair on your figures amazes me, they must be such small slivers of paper! How long does it take you to make a book sculpture usually?
Thank you! The hair is usually about one line of text thick. Any thinner and it won't hold a curl, any thicker and it looks like a bad wig. The time really depends on how detailed the sculpture is. The Composer was probably about 15-20 hours. Some less detailed ones can only take two or three. Some, like Pandora's Box, where there's wiring and batteries and all kinds of technical stuff to figure out (which I'm not good at) can take a week or two.
