The perfect gift for any book lover! Imagine handing your favorite book work this antique hardbound book, lovely in itself, to have them flip the cover to find a bouquet of roses. The first 250 pages of this book have been carved away and with them six roses, tied with a bow, have been sculpted. The book is from the Grolier Classics collection. Published in 1956, this volume holds Jane Eyre (Bronte), Maxims and Reflections (La Rochefoucauld), Essays of Elia (Lamb), and The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
I must say, as a book lover, the thought of cutting up an antique hardbound book makes me cringe. I mean, it is a nice piece of art, but if anyone would give it to me I'd probably start crying. Poor book...
Don't worry. The books I do this to have seen better days. 90% of them I pick up and yard sales, flea markets, etc. and a few I've even found. I love books. I think that with e-books and the sudden influx of tech, they've been getting pushed aside. So if I can make something special that someone will love out of what someone else used to think was a piece of trash then I've done my job, and given a book a new life too.
