Birds and Branches Book Sculpture by wetcanvas Birds and Branches Book Sculpture by wetcanvas
Remake of a piece I made about this time last year. I can't seem to get away from the birds, not that I'm complaining. Though I will admit anything larger that a parakeet terrifies me-except owls for some strange reason. Anyway, the person who requested this is in the UK so I did a mix of European and American birds. Starting at one o'clock they are the Cedar Waxwing, Giant Spotted Woodpecker, Baltimore Oriole (go O's!), European Goldfinch, and the European Robin. There's a bit more dimension in this one, so I'm pretty happy with it. Made from "The Personality of the Bird".

Beautiful!

But at the 1 o'clock is not a nuthatch. That's a Cedar Waxwing. Bombycilla cedrorum. Very, very different birds.

Oh my gosh, you're right! I was debating between a nuthatch and a waxwing and I must have gotten confused when I typed up the description! Thank you and I'll fix it!

Very cool! I've always wanted to do something like this, but never got around to getting a book to use, and I never really figured out what exactly I would do!

Thank you! When I started out I never knew exactly what I was doing. Give it a go and don't think about it. Just see what comes out!
