New NY Bridge Book Sculpture by wetcanvas
New NY Bridge Book Sculpture
OK...so this was a HUGE project for me and half of why I dropped of the face of the Earth for a few months.

I was contacted by the bridge project, who had been told about me from a wonderful reporter who used one of my images for her blog, and asked if I would consider creating the new bridge for them.  Obviously, I said yes!

The sculpture took me well over 100 hours.  There's about 140 trees on either side of the water, small buildings, a lighthouse, and of course, the main structures of the bridge itself.  The sculpture is created from a 1932 geography text book and turned to New York State.

I got to drive this obnoxiously large sculpture to New York.  Crazy, long, rainy drive but it got there in one piece.

You can check out more of the story here:  nykeypad.wordpress.com/2014/08… and learn about the bridge here: www.newnybridge.com/

Fahrenheit 451 Book Sculpture by wetcanvas
Fahrenheit 451 Book Sculpture
Commissioned piece.  I had a lot of fun with this one.  The mini books weren't standing out from the flames and I wasn't really sure what to do.  But, keeping the book in mind, why not char them a bit?  So I got to spend a few hours burning mini books.  Not anything that I would recommend doing in real life, but it added a nice touch to the sculpture.

Daenerys and Dragon Book Sculpture by wetcanvas
Daenerys and Dragon Book Sculpture
Commissioned piece from A Game of Thrones.  This isn't my typical dragon, but I really like it's posture and it was much more sound for shipping (which is always a huge plus!).

So I have been away FOREVER.  I have been working the entire time, trust me, I just haven't had time to post anything.  Christmas orders were crazy this year, which I'm so grateful for, but it didn't leave me much time for anything else.  Plus my actual job.  Plus family stuff.  Plus a book series that I got way too interested in...  Long story short, if you have messaged me or commented on anything I'm sorry that I haven't replied and I promise I will.  I'll (fingers crossed) find a moment to post some new sculptures as well.
Thanks guys!

Why didn't I find your fantastic gallery before?? I am super happy to see another book sculpture lover! You seem to be way more experienced than me, do you suppose I might ask for some advice now and then?
