Fairy Garden Book Sculpture by wetcanvas
Fairy Garden Book Sculpture
A piece for the Everhart Museum (Scranton, PA) which is currently holding a fairy tale exhibit.  If you live in the area, I highly suggest checking it out.  It sounds like they're holding an amazing show, and I may make the three hour hike myself.
This piece is made from a collection of fairy tales, but doesn't depict a specific story.  Each of the lightening bugs is an LED which can be switched on and off.
Elephant Book Sculpture by wetcanvas
Elephant Book Sculpture
Commissioned piece.  I got to think up some brand new techniques for these ladies.  I never realized elephant skin would be such an ordeal. Pretty happy with how it turned out though.
The Phantom Tollbooth - The Dynne by wetcanvas
The Phantom Tollbooth - The Dynne
Commissioned piece.  Milo and Tock meet Doctor Dischord and the Dynne on their journey.
This is probably the most individually detailed book thus far.  Milo and Tock are to the left.  Tock has actual clock hands on his side.  The Doctor stands to the left, complete with his mustache, glasses, stethoscope, extra watches and head mirror.  The Dynne is made of stripped vellum with an LED in his belly to make him glow.  His tornado is behind him (also, making a tornado turned out to be stupidly hard and probably the most time consuming part of this whole endeavor).  The Doctor's carnival cart is also on the left.  They aren't visible in the photo, but inside of the cart there are shelves lined with"vials" of the Doctor's sounds.  Each vial contains another, different colored, LED.
So... it's been about a year and a half since I've posted anything on DA.  I apologize. And to those of you who have tried to contact me with no response, I'm especially sorry.  Without getting into too many details, there's been some family issues and a move to a new state, new jobs, new school for my kiddo... just a whole lot of adjustments.
Through it all there's still been art.  Probably the only thing that kept me halfway sane.  I'll be posting a lot of new work.
Thank you all for sticking with me.  I appreciate it.
